School Based Mental Health Outreach

AllCare's school based outreach places clinicians within campuses of the Los Angeles Unified School District to provide individual therapy, group, and parenting classes. With school psychologists and counseling staff consumed with routine educational guidance and assessment, there is little time to devote to clinical intervention. AllCare therapists are trained in interfacing with school administrators, teaching staff, and counseling staff to provide these needed mental health services. School personnel believe that having clinicians on site is advantageous since therapists can intervene with students in their academic milieu. Not surprisingly, school based mental health has long been hailed by child advocates as an ideal setting to work with children, parents, and teachers. AllCare clinicians work with all grade levels in both regular education and special education settings. Their role is to support academic goals while addressing mental health issues. Finally, clinicians are available to assist in crisis situations, debriefings, and parent conferences.
